Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said the Ikwerre people will continue to play a significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Wike made the remark while addressing stakeholders from the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, noting that their historical contributions to Rivers State and national politics have secured their enduring relevance.
He said the Ikwerre have produced key political leaders and have remained central to decision-making in Rivers State, urging them to stay united, politically active and focused on protecting their collective interests.
Wike warned that internal divisions could weaken their influence and encouraged young Ikwerre politicians to participate actively in politics and prepare for leadership roles.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote political inclusion and development of Ikwerre communities within Rivers State and beyond.
