President Bola Tinubu on Sunday left Lagos for Europe ahead of his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit in the United Arab Emirates.
The President is expected to attend the summit in early January following an invitation from the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The annual event brings together global leaders from government, business and civil society to discuss sustainable development.
According to a statement by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the weeklong summit will focus on advancing sustainable growth through innovation, finance and human capital.
The 2026 edition is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go.”
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
The trip forms part of the President’s end-of-year break, coming days after he arrived in Lagos from official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
During the Borno visit, he commissioned projects executed by the Babagana Zulum administration in collaboration with the Federal Government.
On his arrival in Lagos for the holidays, Tinubu was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
