The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), has urged motorists to avoid reckless driving during the festive season to prevent road accidents and loss of lives.
In a statement issued by its National Deputy President (Administration), Ambassador Muhammad Abubakar Bishara, the National Executive President of RTEAN, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammed Musa Mai-Takobi, appealed to drivers, transport operators and commuters to prioritise safety over speed and profit.
He stressed that human life is sacred and warned against over-speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Mai-Takobi also advised vehicle owners to ensure proper maintenance and roadworthiness of their vehicles before embarking on journeys.
The RTEAN president extended Christmas and New Year greetings to Nigerians and pledged the association’s support for efforts to reduce road crashes during and beyond the festive period.
