The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed grief over the death of its 7th Director-General, Brigadier General Soyemi Ayodele Sofoluwe (Rtd.).

The current Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, led a condolence visit to the Sofoluwe family in Lagos on Tuesday, where he described the late former DG as a distinguished officer and administrator who made lasting contributions to the growth and stability of the Scheme.

Nafiu said Sofoluwe’s leadership and commitment to national service and unity strengthened the NYSC, adding that his death is a great loss to the Scheme and the nation. He prayed for the repose of his soul and comfort for the family.

He also assured Sofoluwe’s widow, Colonel Kehinde Sofoluwe (Rtd.), of the NYSC’s support as funeral preparations begin.

Fondly known as “Oga Show,” Sofoluwe was admired for his warm, compassionate and witty disposition. He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
