A Federal Capital Territory High Court has granted interim bail to former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, in a case filed by the EFCC.
Justice Bello Kawu ruled on December 23, 2025, allowing Malami to remain free pending the hearing of the substantive motion fixed for January 5, 2026.
Under bail terms, Malami must surrender his international passport and provide two sureties, including the Director-General of the Nigerian Legal Aid Council and a House of Representatives member.
The court cited “exceptional hardship” as the reason for the interim release.
The EFCC has accused Malami of alleged financial and administrative improprieties during his tenure from 2015 to 2023.
The January hearing will determine the next steps in the case.
