Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation HADIN KAI have killed 21 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists after ambushing a logistics convoy in Borno State.
The operation, carried out in the Sojiri and Kayamla communities, followed credible intelligence that over 100 terrorists had assembled to move supplies and plan attacks on nearby areas.
Troops, working with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and local vigilantes, intercepted the convoy and engaged the insurgents around midday.
A statement posted on the Army’s official X handle on Sunday said the troops repelled an attempted flanking move and dominated the encounter, with follow-up operations confirming the neutralisation of 21 terrorists. Others reportedly escaped with injuries.
Items recovered included bicycles, food items, drugs and medical supplies, clothing, torchlights, bicycle tyres, assorted weapons and ammunition.
The Army said follow-on operations were ongoing to track fleeing suspects and recover more items.
In related operations, troops uncovered an improvised explosive device along the Damboa-Komala road and arrested two suspected Boko Haram logistics suppliers in Kirawa, Gwoza Local Government Area.
The Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, said the operations, conducted between December 17 and 19, underscore sustained intelligence-driven efforts to disrupt terrorist networks in the North-East.
