President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Friday present the 2026 federal budget proposal, estimated at ₦54.4 trillion, to a joint session of the National Assembly.

The presentation follows the Senate’s approval of the 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, a key requirement for the commencement of the annual budget process.

A formal notice from the Presidency and the Clerk to the National Assembly confirmed that the President will address lawmakers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, with security and access arrangements already put in place.

The budget proposal will be laid before both chambers for legislative scrutiny, amendment and approval, outlining government spending priorities, revenue projections and macroeconomic assumptions for 2026.

Debates and committee reviews are expected to follow as lawmakers exercise their constitutional role in the budget process.
