A chieftain of the All Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Ladan Salihu, has criticised the Federal Government’s handling of high-profile corruption cases, arguing that if former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is free, then former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami should not remain in detention.

Speaking on national television on Tuesday, Salihu accused the government of selective justice, alleging that anti-graft agencies are being used against political opponents.

He said Bello’s continued freedom despite ongoing allegations highlights inconsistencies in the enforcement of anti-corruption laws.

Salihu’s comments followed the detention of Malami by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged graft-related matters.

He described it as unfair for Malami to be held while others facing similar or more serious allegations remain at large.

He warned that such actions undermine public confidence in the anti-corruption campaign and the credibility of Nigeria’s justice system.

The EFCC and the Federal Government were yet to respond to the claims at the time of filing this report.
