Aliko Dangote, Founder and CEO of the Dangote Group, has accused Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), of corruption, claiming he spent $5 million on secondary education for his children in Switzerland.

Dangote made the allegation on Sunday during a media briefing at the Dangote Refinery in Lekki, describing the expenditure as inconsistent with a public servant’s income and a threat to public trust.

He urged the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), or relevant authorities to investigate Ahmed’s income and financial conduct before any decision on his tenure.

“My children went to secondary school in Nigeria. They did not go abroad. How does a government official afford $5 million for four children over six years? Taxpayers deserve accountability,” Dangote said.

He warned that if the allegation is denied, he would compel the Swiss schools to disclose the fees paid and examine Ahmed’s overseas university education.

Dangote emphasised that the focus is on transparency and regulatory integrity, not immediate dismissal.

Ahmed had not responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
