Cole Palmer marked his return with a goal as Chelsea defeated Everton 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, ending a four-game winless run and moving back into the Premier League top four.
The 23-year-old midfielder, out for two months with a groin injury and fractured toe, opened the scoring in the 21st minute after Malo Gusto set him up.
Chelsea doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time when Gusto converted Pedro Neto’s cut-back.
Everton had opportunities to pull one back, with Robert Sanchez saving Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye hitting the post.
Chelsea nearly made it three, but Pickford tipped Reece James’ free-kick over the bar.
