Drama unfolded on Wednesday at an airport when a man, Segun Martins, attempted to board an aircraft by hiding between its landing gear tyres, reportedly hoping to travel to the United States.
Airport security spotted him during a routine inspection just before takeoff and immediately apprehended him.
Martins confessed he believed the aircraft was bound for the U.S. and tried to stow away to leave the country unnoticed.
He was taken into custody for questioning, while authorities launched an investigation into how he accessed the restricted airside area. Flight operations were briefly delayed for additional security checks.
Officials warned that such stowaway attempts are illegal and life-threatening, citing risks of extreme cold, oxygen deprivation, and falling during takeoff or landing.
The incident has renewed calls for stricter airport security and public awareness on the dangers of stowing away on planes.
