Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago on Tuesday presented a revised budget and a list of key appointments to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The submission includes a supplementary budget and fiscal adjustments aimed at addressing rising inflation, subsidy removal, and the impact of currency devaluation.

The governor also forwarded nominees for major positions, including Auditor-General, for screening and confirmation.

Lawmakers have begun deliberations on the proposals, which are expected to shape the state’s development priorities under Bago’s “New Niger” agenda.

While supporters describe the move as a necessary response to shifting economic realities and a step toward stronger governance, critics interpret it as a potential avenue for political realignment.
