The African Action Congress (AAC) has criticised the Bola Tinubu administration for deploying military force to the Republic of Benin following a failed coup attempt, describing the move as misplaced and hypocritical.

In a statement, the party condemned the reported airstrikes and troop deployment, calling it a “selective use of power” that prioritises foreign intervention while Nigeria continues to grapple with widespread insecurity, kidnapping, and violence at home.

The AAC argued that the government’s swift “military precision” abroad contrasts sharply with its slow and inconsistent response to domestic security challenges, raising questions about the administration’s priorities.

The party urged the federal government to explain the rationale for the Benin intervention and to refocus attention on Nigeria’s escalating internal security crisis.
