FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has pledged additional housing projects for judges in the Federal Capital Territory as part of President Bola Tinubu’s push to strengthen the judiciary.
Speaking at the special court session marking the 2025/2026 Legal Year of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, Wike said budgetary provisions have been made to build more residential quarters for FCT High Court judges to address accommodation shortages.
He also announced progress on several judiciary-support projects, including the handover of the Certificate of Occupancy for Supreme Court land and the ongoing perimeter fencing of the complex to curb encroachment and security threats.
Wike listed other initiatives under the FCT Administration, such as new residential quarters for Heads of Courts, a Magistrates’ Court complex in Jabi, staff quarters for the Nigerian Law School, and new court facilities for the Court of Appeal, National Industrial Court, and Federal High Court.
He said the projects aim to provide judges with secure, conducive environments to enhance efficiency.
The minister added that the FCTA will continue supporting justice reforms, including digitising court processes to speed up case handling.
Wike expressed confidence that the 2025/2026 Legal Year would bring greater progress and efficiency to the Court of Appeal.
