President Bola Tinubu has ordered security agencies to work more closely with state governors to prevent further kidnappings, following the mass abduction of pupils from Papiri Catholic School in Niger State.
On Monday, 100 of the abducted schoolchildren were released and reunited with their families.
Tinubu praised the rescue effort and directed security forces to ensure the immediate recovery of the remaining 115 pupils and their teachers.
“Our children should no longer be sitting ducks for heartless terrorists,” the President said, urging state governments to actively support federal security operations to protect schools and vulnerable communities.
The directive reinforces earlier measures, including a nationwide security emergency and fresh recruitment into the police and armed forces, aimed at curbing mass abductions and restoring public safety.
