The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), has assured passengers that recent disruptions on the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service are temporary and not caused by neglect, citing security challenges and a recent derailment.

NRC spokesperson Callistus Unyimadu said repairs to damaged coaches and deployment of additional rolling stock are underway, with safety and enhanced security along the corridor as top priorities.

The disruptions stem from the March 2022 terrorist attack and the August 26, 2025 derailment, which damaged several coaches and forced reduced daily trips.

Unyimadu expressed regret over commuter inconvenience, emphasizing that the situation represents a phase of “recovery, restoration, and rebuilding,” not a decline in commitment.

The NRC noted Federal Government support under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with the Transport Ministry working to expedite full service restoration.

The Corporation appealed for passengers’ patience, assuring that restoring multiple daily trips on the Abuja-Kaduna corridor remains its top operational goal.
