A Bauchi traditional ruler, Aminu Danmaliki, has said the practice of Sharia law in Northern Nigeria does not threaten Christians.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Danmaliki, the Danmalikin Bauchi, explained that Sharia applies only to Muslims, while non-Muslims remain outside its jurisdiction.
He dismissed claims that Sharia endangers Christians as “misinformation” driven by fear and political motives.
He also noted that Sharia is constitutionally protected and rooted in legal traditions that have influenced systems worldwide, urging critics to recognise its principles of justice, equity, and protection of life and property rather than seeing it as a threat.
