The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State says it has not received any official confirmation that 100 students abducted from a school in Agwara have been released.
In a statement on Sunday, state CAN chairman Bishop Bulus Yohanne, speaking through his media aide Daniel Atori described the reports as unverified.
The students were snatched when armed men attacked St. Mary Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area on 21 November 2025. The raid reportedly resulted in the abduction of 303 pupils, students, and teachers.
Though about 50 pupils escaped in the days following the attack, the church said it remains hopeful but urged caution until there is official confirmation.
CAN pledged to continue praying for the safe return of all remaining victims, calling on authorities to provide verified information on their status.
