The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called on Igbo people across Nigeria and abroad to return home for Christmas, assuring that the Southeast remains safe for the festive season.

In a statement on Sunday, IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful said operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), working with community volunteers, would provide security throughout the holidays.

He maintained that the region is stable despite “exaggerated” reports of insecurity.

Powerful dismissed a viral video of an alleged kidnapping on the Owerri-Aba Expressway as an old clip recirculated to cause panic.

He added that ESN does not operate any official social media accounts, warning the public against misinformation.

IPOB accused political actors of attempting to undermine its operations but reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful pursuit of Biafra.

The group urged Ndigbo to “return home, celebrate confidently, and contribute to the region’s development,” pledging the safety of all travellers.
