Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres has described the club’s last-second defeat to Aston Villa as “one of the toughest ways to lose,” after Emi Buendia’s stoppage-time strike ended the Gunners’ 18-match unbeaten run.
Arsenal had fought back through Leandro Trossard after Matty Cash’s opener, and appeared set for a point before Buendia’s late winner stunned Mikel Arteta’s side.
Gyokeres said the dressing room was naturally deflated but insisted the team would recover quickly.
“It doesn’t feel good right now, but it’s early in the season and we have plenty of games ahead. Losing like that hurts, but we move on.”
Despite Villa’s strong home record, Arsenal carved out several chances, with Emiliano Martínez making nine saves.
Gyokeres added that the team’s attacking intent remains encouraging: “If we keep creating opportunities, the goals will come. We’ll learn from this and come back stronger.”
