A major internal rift has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, as all 12 ward chairmen and several senior party stakeholders have rejected the return of Mr. Seun Fakua’de as Commissioner-designate.

In a petition dated December 2 and addressed to the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, the party leaders accused Fakua’de of “arrogance, nonchalance and complete disconnect” from APC structures during his previous tenure in government.

The petitioners alleged that Fakua’de consistently distanced himself from party activities, including the recently concluded ward-to-ward mobilisation for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s affirmation tour. They claimed he neither participated in the exercise nor showed interest in party affairs.

According to them, Fakua’de failed to offer any moral or financial support to the party and reportedly maintained strained relationships with members.

“He claims he was not appointed by the party and therefore owes no accountability to members. He neither picks calls nor returns them; he blocks lines at the slightest provocation,” a portion of the petition read.

The chairmen stressed that their rejection was not motivated by personal grievances but by concerns that reinstating Fakua’de would “further demoralise the grassroots and undermine party cohesion.”

They appealed to Governor Oyebanji to withdraw his nomination and replace him with “a nominee who will genuinely represent Oye and work with the party leadership.”

Despite the protest, the ward chairmen reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Oyebanji and pledged continued support for his administration.

The petition was jointly signed by all ward chairmen across Oye LGA and endorsed by the APC Chairman in the area, Hon. Ogunsakin Samuel.
