Senator Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), has dismissed reports of a disagreement with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, saying their brief exchange during Tuesday’s session was a routine parliamentary procedure. He clarified the issue during Wednesday’s plenary.
Goje said his point of order, which some media outlets interpreted as a confrontation was not personal but aimed at ensuring adherence to Senate rules.
“My intention was not to go against the Senate President or fight him,” he said. “I only raised a normal point of order as an experienced parliamentarian.”
The senator urged journalists and social media users to correct what he called exaggerated narratives, insisting there was no clash.
“Everything was sorted out. It was not a fight,” he added.
Akpabio welcomed the explanation and appealed for accurate reporting, stressing that the Senate remains united.
“There is no fight in the Senate; we are all one,” he said.
The clarification follows Tuesday’s brief rowdy moment in the chamber, which both lawmakers now confirm was purely procedural.
