Former Central Bank of Nigeria Deputy Governor, Kingsley Moghalu, has criticised some of President Bola Tinubu’s ambassadorial nominees, accusing them of hypocrisy for accepting appointments after previously using abusive language against the president.

In a post on X on Thursday, Moghalu described the nominees’ actions as “staggering,” arguing that individuals who once issued extreme personal attacks on Tinubu should not now be eager to serve in his administration.

He said political disagreement is normal, but switching positions for personal gain reflects poorly on character.

“At least, if you feel that strongly not just about issues, but about a person, then stay on your lane,” he wrote, adding that the behaviour of such nominees says more about them than about Tinubu.

President Tinubu recently forwarded 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

The list includes 34 career diplomats and 31 non-career nominees, among them Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahmed (Kwara), Segun Ige (Edo), and former senators Folasade Grace Bent (Adamawa), Solomon Ita Enang (Akwa Ibom), and Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo).
