Leeds United produced their best performance of the season on Wednesday, defeating Chelsea 3-1 at Elland Road to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone and ease pressure on manager Daniel Farke.

Jaka Bijol opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a powerful header from Anton Stach’s corner, before Ao Tanaka doubled the lead just before halftime with a stunning 25-yard strike.

Chelsea, coming off strong results against Barcelona and Arsenal, struggled to settle. Their only early threat came when Lucas Perri denied Liam Delap in the 39th minute.

The visitors reduced the deficit shortly after the restart through Pedro Neto, finishing from a Jamie Gittens run.

Leeds immediately responded, though Lukas Nmecha’s effort was ruled offside.

Leeds restored their two-goal advantage in the 72nd minute after Tosin Adarabioyo’s poor back-pass allowed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score into an empty net.

Chelsea pushed late but rarely troubled the hosts, while Leeds missed further chances through Noah Okafor and Gabriel Gudmundsson.

The victory ended Leeds’ four-game losing streak.
