The Senate on Tuesday began screening retired General Christopher Musa, nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Minister of Defence.
Musa’s nomination follows the resignation of former Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru.
The retired general, who served as Chief of Defence Staff from 2023 to October 2025, is credited with overseeing key military operations and reforms.
He is also a recipient of the Colin Powell Award for Soldiering (2012).
If confirmed, Musa will take charge of the Defence Ministry at a critical time in Nigeria’s security landscape.
