Shop owners who lost their businesses in the fire that gutted Jabi Timber Shield on Wednesday morning have appealed to the government for urgent support.
Speaking to Abuja City Journal, some victims described the inferno as a devastating blow that destroyed their only means of livelihood.
Mr. Caleb, a wood seller, said he could not estimate the total loss because new stock had just been delivered the previous night.
Another shop owner, Mr. Adams, lamented the setback, saying, “I don’t know where to start. I began this business just a few years ago, worked tirelessly to grow it, and now I have to start all over again.”
The affected traders are urging the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), administration to provide immediate assistance to help them recover from the disaster.
