Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has directed that all social, religious, and community activities across the state must end by 4 p.m. daily until further notice.
The order followed an emergency security meeting at the Government House, Lokoja, attended by security agencies and traditional rulers.
Ododo warned that any centre violating the directive risks demolition, stressing that the government will not tolerate actions that threaten public safety.
The governor said security operatives had, in the last three days, tracked major bandits and their commanders to specific locations in the state.
The early shutdown, he explained, is part of a strategy to proactively confront criminal gangs rather than wait for attacks.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, noting that insecurity is a global challenge requiring collective action.
Ododo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called proactive efforts in the recent rescue of kidnapped students and worshippers, reaffirming the state’s resolve to tackle insecurity in collaboration with traditional, religious, and community leaders.
