Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to hasten their registration and join what he described as a collective mission to rescue Nigeria.

Atiku made the call on Monday when he met ADC state chairmen from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory at his Abuja residence.

The delegation, led by Kogi State ADC Chairman Ogga Kingsley, visited to formally welcome him following his recent registration.

Kingsley said the chairmen were delighted to receive Atiku as a “bona fide member” of the party.

Atiku, expressing satisfaction with his entry into the ADC, praised the chairmen for their dedication.

He said they shared a common goal of building a secure and prosperous nation, stressing that no member could afford to “sit on the fence.”

He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of damaging the country and vowed that the ADC and its allies were prepared to challenge them.

The former presidential candidate disclosed details of the meeting in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.

His engagement with party leaders comes days after he declared that “the real opposition has begun” upon receiving his ADC membership card in Jada 1 Ward, Adamawa State.

Atiku, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party in July over internal disagreements, urged his supporters nationwide to register with the ADC and join what he described as a new political front.
