The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), administration has intensified its clean-energy campaign by distributing LPG cylinders to women across all six area councils, a move aimed at reducing smoke-related health hazards and promoting safer cooking practices.
The weekend ceremony highlighted the initiative’s impact on public health, environmental sustainability, and household economics, with officials describing the distribution as a key step toward ending reliance on solid fuels.
Dr. Fasawe, a leading advocate of the program, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond distribution, promoting recycling, environmental stewardship, and sustainable energy adoption across communities.
She noted that clean air and safe cooking should extend nationwide, beyond Abuja.
Analysts say the program positions Abuja as a potential model for environmental innovation in Africa, demonstrating how public policy and community engagement can drive sustainable development.
