Enyimba Beat Rangers 2-1 in Oriental Derby as Ikorodu City Go Top

Enyimba returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Rangers International in the Oriental Derby at the Aba Township Stadium.

Winless in three and playing their first match since the departure of coach Stanley Eguma, the hosts struck through Chidera Michael in the 42nd minute before Stanley Dimgba added a second in the 81st. Kenechukwu Agu pulled one back for Rangers in stoppage time.

Despite the win, their fifth of the season, Enyimba remain mid-table with 20 points from 15 matches.

In Owerri, newly promoted Kun Khalifat FC climbed out of the relegation zone after a 2-0 win over Plateau United.

Lekan Gabriel scored shortly after the restart, while Henry Ezeonye converted a 70th-minute penalty to take them to 17 points.

There was late drama in Kano as Barau FC marked their return to the Sani Abacha Stadium with a 3-2 win over Kwara United.

Goals from Usman Maidubji, Muhammad Umar and a 90th-minute winner from Stanley Oganbor secured victory, though Barau remain 18th.

Ikorodu City went top of the NPFL table after Chidera Oparaoche’s 69th-minute strike sealed a 1-0 win over Abia Warriors in Lagos. They lead on goal difference after Nasarawa United lost 1-0 to Warri Wolves in Ozoro.

Elsewhere, 3SC beat El Kanemi Warriors 1-0 in Ibadan, while Bayelsa United drew 1-1 with Katsina United in Yenagoa.
