The Managing Director, Ultraviolet Microfinance Bank (UV MFB), Bayonle Omoyele, has urged young Nigerians to rethink their investment habits, insisting that the Naira currently holds stronger prospects for wealth building than the US Dollar within the local economy.
He gave the advice on Tuesday during an engagement with the 26 finalists of the National Essay Competition, powered by Abuja City Journal (ACJ), and sponsored by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
The finalists, who had earlier visited the FIRS Headquarters as part of their post-policy engagement tour, were received at the UV Microfinance Bank office in Abuja, where Omoyele delivered a session on financial literacy and personal development.
Addressing the students, Omoyele challenged the popular belief that the Dollar is always a safer store of value, arguing that disciplined, well-structured investments in Naira-based financial products offer better long-term returns for young people committed to building sustainable wealth in Nigeria.
He encouraged them to view the local currency not as a limitation but as an opportunity.
On personal growth, the MD offered what he described as a practical roadmap for success, urging the finalists to break down their long-term dreams into smaller, achievable tasks.
According to him, this strategy helps transform abstract aspirations into measurable milestones, making progress steady and attainable.
Omoyele, a certified Microfinance expert and visionary entrepreneur, shared insights from his own journey of transforming a small cooperative venture, he started with less than ₦200,000 into the thriving Ultraviolet Microfinance Bank in just four years.
He also introduced the finalists to SavingsBox, his fintech platform that supports automated savings, credit access, and food security initiatives.
He encouraged the young scholars to embrace financial discipline, innovation, and goal-driven planning as they prepare for future leadership roles.
