The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command has banned the sale and use of firecrackers and other unauthorized pyrotechnics as part of heightened security measures for the festive season.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye warned residents against buying, selling, or using firecrackers, noting that they can cause injuries, fire outbreaks, panic, and provide cover for criminal activities.
She said operatives have been directed to enforce the ban and prosecute offenders.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report violations through the FCT Police emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08068587311.
