President Bola Tinubu has described insecurity as Nigeria’s most urgent challenge, warning that it threatens economic stability, education and national unity, especially in the North.
Speaking in Kaduna on Saturday at the Arewa Consultative Forum’s (ACF), 25th anniversary, Tinubu, represented by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas said the government is tackling inherited security problems with “urgency and determination.”
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to eliminate terrorist and bandit groups and revive the region’s economy.
Tinubu expressed optimism about the North’s economic prospects, citing expected crude oil production from Kolmani and progress on major projects such as the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Superhighway.
He urged northern leaders to confront regional challenges with honesty, warning that no society can progress while communities remain vulnerable or citizens live in fear.
Tinubu praised the ACF for 25 years of advocacy, saying the diversity at the event signalled a renewed commitment to unity and national cohesion.
He called on leaders across all sectors to uphold the forum’s founding values and work together to strengthen peace and development in the North.
