Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac says Germany forward Karim Adeyemi will not face sporting sanctions after being fined for attempting to illegally possess a weapon.

Kovac told reporters on Thursday that the club reviewed the matter and agreed Adeyemi would complete community service, stressing the incident would not affect his place in the squad.

“It is no reason for me to ban him for the next few weeks,” he said.

Adeyemi reportedly purchased an online “mystery box” earlier in the year without knowing it contained items prohibited under German weapons law.

Police later discovered the unopened package, leading to the fine.

Kovac urged calm, saying he remains focused on football.

“I am not his father, but his coach. People should put things into perspective… The focus is clearly on the Bundesliga,” he said.

Dortmund face VfB Stuttgart on Saturday after losing their last four league meetings to the club.
