The Archdiocese has dismissed viral social-media claims that abducted priest, Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal, has been killed, describing the rumours as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on November 20, 2025, the Office of the Chancellor confirmed that Fr. Paschal is alive and that security agencies are continuing efforts to secure his safe release.

The Archdiocese cautioned the public and social-media users against spreading unverified reports, noting that such misinformation causes panic, distress to the priest’s family, and could jeopardise ongoing rescue operations.

It expressed appreciation for the prayers and support of the faithful and urged continued intercession for Fr. Paschal and others still in captivity.

The statement, signed by Rev. Fr. Christian Okewu Emmanuel, advised the public to rely only on official Archdiocesan communication for updates.
