President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 68th birthday, praising him as a statesman whose contributions continue to shape Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu joined Jonathan’s family and associates in celebrating the former leader.
Tinubu highlighted Jonathan’s “simplicity and humility,” especially his conduct during the 2015 presidential election, saying it strengthened Nigeria’s democratic credentials and enhanced the country’s global image.
He also acknowledged past political interactions with Jonathan, noting the support and counsel that aided Jonathan’s rise between 2010 and 2011.
The President said Jonathan’s continued diplomatic engagements, particularly in promoting democracy across Africa, remain exemplary.
He prayed for the former President’s good health and well-being, as well as that of his family.
