The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has dismissed a pamphlet circulating on social media that allegedly instructs corps members to pay ransom if kidnapped, describing it as fake and unauthorised.
In a statement on its X handle on Thursday, the agency said the document does not reflect its security policy and should be disregarded.
NYSC noted that while a consultant submitted a similar proposal in 2021, it was never approved.
The scheme reassured corps members and the public of its commitment to their safety, emphasizing ongoing collaboration with security agencies to strengthen protection measures.
The pamphlet resurfaced amid rising concerns over kidnappings, including recent incidents in Kwara State.
NYSC stressed that the circulation of the document does not represent its official stance on the safety of staff or corps members.
