Aggrieved football stakeholders have called for an urgent investigation into Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, citing the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF), alleged mismanagement of the Super Eagles’ campaign.

Former players Harrison Jalla and Adegoke Adelabu urged President Bola Tinubu to address alleged corruption and inefficiency in the NFF, warning that sweeping issues under the carpet could further damage Nigerian football.

Nigeria’s hopes ended after DR Congo defeated the Super Eagles in the playoff, marking the second consecutive World Cup absence following 2022.

Stakeholders lamented unpaid allowances, lack of transparency, and the NFF’s unaccountability, stressing that government intervention and a thorough probe are needed to restructure the sport and safeguard the country’s football reputation.
