The FCT Police Command has dismissed a viral video alleging that its officers clashed with individuals and blocked the Bauchi State Governor from entering the PDP National Secretariat in Wadata Plaza.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Command described the claims as “false and misleading,” clarifying that the incident captured in the video was a momentary congestion at the entrance, not a confrontation.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the congestion was caused by private security guards and bouncers, whom police dispersed to allow free movement ahead of the PDP’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee meetings.
“At no time were police officers involved in any scuffle, nor did they obstruct the Governor, as falsely portrayed,” she said.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, urged the media and the public to verify sensitive content before sharing, saying misinformation can heighten tension.
The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and supporting lawful activities in the FCT.
