At its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expelled several high-profile members, including Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, former Governor Ayo Fayose, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, and others, over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision, endorsed by an overwhelming majority of delegates, signals the party’s resolve to clamp down on internal divisions as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba said the expulsions followed “anti-party conduct” under sections of the party constitution, while a national reconciliation committee had earlier recommended disciplinary actions.
The move comes amid a deepening leadership crisis. A faction loyal to Wike, including Anyanwu, had already clashed with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), even announcing rival suspensions.
Sources say the expelled members are expected to appeal the decision through the party’s disciplinary structures.
