Nigeria and Mali have renewed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation and address rising security threats in West Africa.

This followed a courtesy visit by Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, to Mali’s Prime Minister, Gen. Abdoulaye Maiga, during the maiden International Defence and Security Exhibition (BAMEX 2025) in Bamako.

Badaru, who led the Nigerian delegation, described Mali as a strategic partner and conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s goodwill, reaffirming Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen defence collaboration. His Media Aide, Comrade Mati Ali, issued the statement.

Maiga thanked Nigeria for its strong participation in BAMEX 2025, calling it a testament to long-standing friendship.

He said closer cooperation remained crucial as both nations confront shared security challenges.

Both countries signalled renewed resolve to work together, with top military officials from Nigeria and Mali present at the event.
