Senator Ned Nwoko has refuted claims that he married actress Regina Daniels when she was 17, calling the allegations “false, misleading and malicious.”

In a statement on Facebook on Thursday, Nwoko said Daniels told him she was 21 when they met and presented her INEC voter’s card showing her birth date as October 10, 1998.

He added that their marriage took place six years ago, meaning Daniels was of legal age at the time.

“Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public,” he said, accusing critics of exploiting Daniels’s past vulnerabilities to orchestrate a smear campaign.

The age-of-marriage controversy surfaced amid Daniels’s recent claims that she married at 17 and faced emotional manipulation.

Nwoko maintains that their traditional marriage was lawful and conducted when Daniels was of age, dismissing the 17-year narrative as part of a political attack.

The dispute continues to attract public attention, highlighting debates over marital legality, personal agency, and social media influence.
