The Federal Government has suspended the planned 15% import duty on Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and diesel.
In a statement posted on X on Thursday, the Director of Public Affairs, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), George Ene-Ita, confirmed that the policy was “no longer in view.”
The duty, earlier approved by President Bola Tinubu, had drawn public concern over potential fuel price hikes.
NMDPRA also assured Nigerians of adequate fuel supply nationwide, saying it remains committed to ensuring energy security and uninterrupted distribution during the current peak demand period.
