Wolverhampton Wanderers have appointed Rob Edwards as their new manager on a three-and-a-half-year contract, following Vitor Pereira’s departure earlier this month.
Edwards joins Wolves from Middlesbrough, where he led the team to second place in the Championship after being appointed head coach in June.
His move to a Premier League club struggling at the bottom of the table, winless and eight points from safety, has drawn mixed reactions.
The 42-year-old, who made over 100 appearances for Wolves between 2004 and 2008, called the role his “dream job,” noting his local roots in Telford and family ties to the area.
The club now pins hopes on him to steer them to Premier League survival this season.
