Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday boycotted training in Rabat, Morocco, over unpaid bonuses ahead of Thursday’s 2026 World Cup play-off against Gabon.
The players and technical staff said the protest was due to allowances owed since 2019, covering previous AFCON and World Cup campaigns.
Sports journalist Oluwashina Okeleji reported that the team is “tired of empty promises” and awaits a quick resolution to resume training.
Efforts to reach the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for comment were unsuccessful.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Gabon at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Thursday.
