Residents of EFAB Estate, Karsana District, Abuja, were thrown into panic after unknown assailants attacked a newly employed security guard, Godpower Ope, inflicting deep cuts on his legs and back.
The attackers reportedly scaled the estate’s fence around 1 a.m. on Sunday and demanded that Ope open a door. When he refused, they descended on him with sharp objects before fleeing.
A facility manager at Kubwa General Hospital, where Ope is receiving treatment, said the victim’s colleague had left his post earlier that night.
Ope, who was left unconscious, later regained strength around 2 a.m. and raised the alarm.
