The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olapade, has confirmed that all funds meant for the Super Eagles have been fully released to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Olapade’s clarification comes amid reports that the national team boycotted training over unpaid allowances.
He explained that the NSC does not deal directly with players or coaches, as all financial transactions are handled by the NFF.
“The NSC has disbursed all funds to the NFF as scheduled since I assumed office. We don’t pay players directly,” he stated.
Appointed by President Bola Tinubu in November 2024, Olapade reiterated the Commission’s commitment to transparency and accountability in sports funding.
The development follows renewed concerns over administrative lapses within the NFF, despite earlier interventions by the Federal Government to clear outstanding bonuses owed to national teams.
The latest standoff has reignited debate over the management of football funds in Nigeria and its impact on players’ morale ahead of upcoming competitions.
