Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), has condemned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for confronting a military officer during a land dispute in Abuja, describing the act as a threat to national security.
In a statement on Tuesday, Buratai said the minister’s public altercation with the soldier, captured in viral videos, was “an act of profound indiscipline” that undermines the military’s chain of command and disrespects the authority of the commander-in-chief.
He warned that Wike’s conduct could erode troop morale and weaken institutional integrity, urging him to apologise to President Bola Tinubu and the military.
“Our nation’s security must come first. The integrity of our armed forces demands nothing less,” Buratai stated.
The viral confrontation between Wike and military personnel at the disputed site has continued to stir debate over civil-military relations in Nigeria.
