The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Miller Dantawaye, has ordered intensified patrols around worship centres across Abuja to ensure safety during the ember months.
In a statement on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the police, in collaboration with the DSS, local hunters, and vigilante groups, carried out special patrols within forested and border communities linking Bwari-Kaduna, Bwari-Niger, and Gwagwalada-Niger States.
Dantawaye said the operation, which lasted from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., was aimed at deterring crime and boosting community confidence.
Church leaders were also sensitised on safety measures, including avoiding late-night services and promptly reporting suspicious movements.
The CP further directed the blocking of identified criminal routes and reinforced security posts in vulnerable areas.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to sustain peace across the FCT.
