The Federal High Court in Abuja has again stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from holding its national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Justice Peter Lifu issued the restraining order on Tuesday following a suit by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, who claimed the party denied him the chance to buy the nomination form for the national chairmanship.

The judge said the PDP failed to publish a timetable for the exercise, violating legal procedures, and warned that ignoring due process could “endanger the very foundation of democracy.”

The court barred the PDP from holding the convention anywhere and prohibited INEC from recognising its outcome.

This marks the second recent court intervention, after a similar October order from Justice James Omotosho following complaints from other aggrieved PDP members.

Meanwhile, on November 4, the Oyo State High Court had temporarily allowed the PDP to continue preparations, pending further hearings.
